Statement of Faith
God - We believe that God is the Almighty Creator of the universe, Who owns everything and everyone. He is the first Person of the holy Trinity, the invisible God. He is a God of truth, holiness, goodness, righteousness, love, and justice. He is omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, immutable, eternal, and sovereign. There is only one God, the self-existent God, and His name is Jehovah. (Gen. 1:1, Ez. 18:4, Ex. 3:14, Ps. 31:5, Is. 6:3, I Jn. 4:16, Ps. 86:15) Jesus Christ - We believe that Jesus Christ is the incarnate Son of God, the only Saviour for sinful man. He is the second Person of the Trinity, the express image of God, and the King of Kings. Jesus Christ has existed since eternity past, and has in these last days, come in the form of man to save us from our sin. Jesus Christ was born of the virgin Mary making Him 100% God and 100% man. He lived a perfect, sinless life and went to the cross of Calvary to pay our sin debt. He took upon Him the judgment of every man's sins, was crucified, buried, and rose again the third day. (Jn. 1:1, 14, I Jn. 5:7, Heb. 1:3, Jn.1:14, 29, I Cor. 15:1-4). Holy Spirit - We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity, the Sealer of the believer, and the Indweller. He is the Comforter who guides and directs in all truth, reproving and convicting of sin. He indwells the believer at the moment of salvation and abides with the believer continually. Although He cannot be removed, He can be quenched or grieved. (I Jn. 5:7, Eph. 1:13, 4:30, Jn. 16:8, 13, I Thes. 5:19) Bible - We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. God spoke through holy men as He used them to record the very words of God. Each word that God has written is inspired and correct, making this our sole source of truth and authority. We believe that the only true translation for English-speaking people is the King James Version of 1611. We believe that God has preserved His Word throughout time and translation. (II Tim. 3:16, 17, II Pt. 1:20, 21, Mt. 5:18, 24:35, Jn. 17:17, Ps. 12:6, 7) Salvation - We believe that a person is saved from their sin when they humbly turn to Jesus Christ in a heart of repentance and faith. Repentance is a change of mind about sin, false religion, a life without God, and any other thing contrary to God. Faith is acting upon the belief that Jesus Christ alone can save an eternal soul from their lost condition. Works cannot save a soul, but only faith in Jesus Christ. It is the blood of Jesus Christ that purchased our salvation, and without the shedding of blood, there would be no remission of sin. We believe that there is only one plan of salvation for every man, and any man can respond to God's conviction and be born again. (Mt. 1:21, Acts 20:21, 3:19, Ro. 10:9, 10, Eph. 2:8, 9, II Pt. 3:9, I Tim. 2:4, I Pt. 1:18, 19, Heb. 9:22) Eternal Security - We believe that once a person has truly been saved, that child of God will always be saved. As the believer did nothing to earn salvation, there is nothing he/she can do to lose it. When God gives the gift of salvation, it is forever. There is nothing that can be done by the believer or anyone else to cause a saved person to lose their salvation. (Ro. 11:29, 8:37-39, Jn. 10:28, 29) Baptism - We believe that baptism is one of two ordinances given to the church, whereby a believer is immersed in water as an outward testimony of inward salvation. Baptism does not save, but rather is an answer of a good conscience toward God. Baptism is the fulfillment of obedience and places a believer into the membership of the church which baptized the believer. This is the only baptism for saints today as the Scriptures teach us that there is only one baptism. (I Pt. 3:21, Mt. 3:15, Acts 2:41, Eph. 4:5) Lord's Supper - We believe this to be the second and final ordinance given to the church. This act of remembrance (of what our Lord did on the cross) is strictly for the members of the local, New Testament church that is administering the Supper. Of that local assembly, those who are in good standing with the Lord and with the other members may partake of this ordinance. The elements of the Lord's table are to be unleavened bread (the symbol of the pure, sinless body of Jesus Christ) and grape juice (the unfermented blood of the grape which represents the pure, sinless blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ). The purpose of this ordinance was to show the Lord's death, till He comes. (I Cor. 11:24-30, Mt. 26:26-29) Church - We believe the church to be a called-out assembly of baptized believers, organized to carry out the work of Jesus Christ (Great Commission). The church is local, visible, and independent of any board, association, or any other usurper of authority. Jesus Christ is the Head of the church, and the church is His bride and body. Jesus Christ has given His churches authority on this earth and has promised that the church will always exist. It is the purpose of the church to win souls to Christ, baptize them, and teach them all things. We believe the church was started by Jesus Christ Himself, with the twelve apostles, before He left this earth. (I Cor. 12:28, Mt. 16:18, 19, 18:15-20, Eph. 5:23, Mt. 28:18-20) Separation - We believe that a Christian is called to be different from the world. Upon salvation, a believer is made a new creature in Christ, and has a desire to please his Lord. A child of God ought to desire to follow the Lord in all areas of holiness and separation. (II Cor. 5:17, I Pt. 1:15, 16, II Cor. 6:17, 18) Future Events - We believe the next event on God's prophetic calendar is the Rapture. In the Rapture, all saved people will be raised up to meet the Lord in the air. After the Rapture, there will be a seven-year Tribulation period during which the anti-Christ will have his time. Halfway through, the anti-Christ turns against Israel, and at the same time, God begins to judge the world. At the end of the tribulation, Jesus Christ will return to destroy His enemies and set up His Millennial Kingdom, ruling and reigning for 1,000 years. After the Millennium is the Great White Throne judgment, and upon this judgment, the eternal state begins. (I Thes. 4:15-18, Mt. 24:29-31, Rev. 19:11-21, 20:4, 21:1-5) |
